Geneva is ranked as second in terms of city population in
Switzerland. Geneva is known to be world city where it plays an
important role in global economic system of Switzerland. It is also the
center of diplomacy and UN International co-operation center. It is also
the third European financial center and was considered as the most
compact metropolis and the “Peace Capital.”
Geneva has a temperate climate. Mild winter; normally light frost in the
evening and thawing condition in the morning. Geneva has 82 buildings
and sites that were consider as Swiss heritage site of national
significance. Then the whole old Geneva city is a part of Inventory of
Swiss Heritage Sites.
Geneva has a lot to offer to their visitors. They have their most
well-known monument, The Jet d’eau which is the world’s tallest
fountain. Visitors also get a chance to visit the Geneva’s ancient and
old town
and know more of Geneva’s rich heritage and culture.

The Bastion Promenade, it is once a
botanical garden which is founded by AP de Candolle in 1817. Now it was
converted into a pleasant walkway right in the heart
of metropolis. It was decorated by fountains, monuments and statues.
Another is Marius Café, it was a former butcher’s shop that was
converted into an art decorated tapas and wine bar.
Every summer, there
is a small sunny terrace on the sidewalk that is crowded but so noisy
intended for the locals and tourist. They have also Flower Clock or Horloge Fleurie. It was built in the year 1955 as a tribute to the
country’s respected industry. It measures 16 feet in diameter and 52
feet in circumference. It is composed of 6500 various plants.
Another
famous in Geneva is the Tavel House or Maison Tavel. It is the oldest
private house in Geneva. In 1334 in was burnt down and was rebuilt
afterwards. Tourists get to experience what an old Geneva house looks
like.
